Psychological Assessment

Psychological assessment provides a comprehensive understanding of an individual's mental and emotional state, offering valuable information for the next steps in the therapeutic process. During the assessment, significant information is gathered to help you understand the difficulties you are facing and make an informed decision about your next therapeutic steps. The session lasts 90 minutes and focuses on your personal history, current circumstances, and hopes for the future. The goal is to identify dysfunctional patterns or recurring cycles in your life and areas that may require therapeutic support.

After the assessment, you will receive a detailed report that includes a summary of the discussion and the main issues identified, a preliminary formulation – an explanation of the factors that may contribute to the development and maintenance of the problem you're experiencing, and the therapeutic approach plan to help you achieve your goals.

Psychometric assessment is a specialised process used to understand an individual's cognitive, emotional, and psychological functioning through the use of specific tools and tests. This assessment helps determine the person's characteristics and consider factors that may influence their mental health. It includes tools such as the WISC (Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children) for children and the WAIS (Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale) for adults, which evaluate intelligence, cognitive abilities, and other psychological parameters. These assessments provide a crucial way to understand the deeper causes of problems and create the most appropriate therapeutic plan.

Goals of psychometric assessment:

  • Providing an accurate and comprehensive picture of the individual's mental health parameters.

  • Evaluating the individual's emotional, cognitive, and psychological state.

  • Enhancing the understanding of the symptoms and challenges the individual is facing.

  • Supporting the detection and diagnosis of difficulties (e.g., learning disabilities).
